I have been struck for many years now by the many parallels between experiences generally described as alien abduction and those which people enjoy on the astral plane. One of the main differences between these two categories of human experience is that alien abductions occur at the instigation and under the control of non human beings, while journeys on the astral are quite often under the control and direction of the human witness. (Such control and direction are never total but do increase with experience.) Is it possible that the frustration and obstacle to research of unpredictability could be at least lessened by people learning about how to competently journey on the astral?
While this solution will not be greeted with enthusiasm by the science-minded, it does offer hope to those intrepid souls who want to get at the truth themselves. I created this blog in order to post excerpts illustrating these parallels so that people may decide for themselves.
Aliens pointing a rodlike device at a human with the purpose (and result) of putting the witness out of commission is so numerous in ufo accounts as to be a cliche. In this excerpt Robert Monroe deliberately journeys out of his body and encounters the cliche from a different point of view. He does, however, come back from his journey to another world with precise, though somehow incomprehensible, instructions on how to build this device, along with the compulsion to construct one of his own in space time reality.
From Journeys Out of the Body by Robert Monroe, in the chapter 'Round Holes and Square Pegs'.
